Professional development can take a wide variety of forms. In some cases, it can take the form of specific methods and techniques related to learning. In other cases, it can be about hearing powerful stories that help inspire teachers to be the best they can be. During our Friday pro-d we had examples of both of these approaches. First off, we had a really powerful presentation by a First Nations woman regarding her difficult path to a successful life. This story inspired me on a deep level as it made me feel that I need to work on myself and do all I can to seize hold of opportunities. In the second presentation, Indigenous presenter Dustin Loui gave a presentation on decolonization. As usual, Dustin presented in a powerful way that made me question my views on decolonization.

I feel that our Friday pro-d was really valuable and I am happy to have participated in it. I look forward to more professional development going forward.
